Skiing and snowboarding are sports of skill and balance, but in order to perform well, you need to be comfortable, which often translates to being warm. And that’s where AETHER shines. The W Torino Jacket fits that bill with so many thoughtful features you’ll still be discovering them after several wears. We thought of everything and then some. Made from a seam-sealed, 2-layer shell with contrast Schoeller® stretch panels at the side and undersleeve, the women’s Torino is both waterproof and wind resistant. And while we make warmth a high priority, so is the fit: There is 800-fill-power goose-down insulation at the body, top of the sleeve, hood, and collar, but the contrast areas have 80g of PrimaLoft® Gold Active in order to reduce bulk without sacrificing warmth. We didn’t stop there. There are tons of small details we obsessed about when designing this jacket. Thumbhole loops underneath the center-front placket ensure you can close the Torino easily—even with gloves on. And the two-way, weatherproof zipper helps you stay comfortable when sitting, especially on lifts. There are also weatherproof zippers underneath the welt hand pockets. (Sidenote: There is also a weatherproof zipper on the super-convenient pass pocket on the wearer’s left sleeve.) But the details keep on going: The removable hood can be adjusted via Cohaesive® cord locks, and on days when you want to go without it, it’s easy to zip off. The Torino’s hem is also adjustable, using the same cord locks, which can be accessed through the hand pocket. And those hand pockets? Well, those have brushed tricot in them, which feels so soft you may just want to leave your hand in there. We took that same brushed tricot and put it at the collar, too, so it feels amazing when it brushes against your face. Upping the warmth quotient even more, there is an internal wind cuff at the sleeve openings to lock in your body heat. For big days on the hill, there is also a snow skirt, but when the conditions aren’t optimal—or if you don’t appreciate the feature—it zips right out. The interior of the Torino received the same attention to detail with nothing left unconsidered: There are interior mesh pockets (one with a magnet closure and one with a zipper), and a D-ring on the interior hem gives you a place to stash your gloves when you’re in the lodge. Safety, of course, is paramount as well. For that, we integrated this style with a RECCO® rescue reflector.
