The sewing floor

At AETHER, design and durability go hand in hand. For us, high-quality design doesn’t only look great—it should also last for many years to come and be made in a responsible way. In order to meet those expectations, we hand-select and work with factories all over the world. Most recently, our cofounder Jonah Smith along with our Design Director and VP of Product visited our partner factories in Portugal to make sure they are a clean and comfortable place to work and in compliance with safety regulations.

While in Portugal, we discussed our expectations in regards to quality; we met the men and women making our products; and we looked closely at the production process to get a better understanding of what they do and how they work best. We were shown around the factories, from where the sewing takes place to where garment inspection is done. We departed our overseas trip happy to know we are making our clothes and shoes at facilities that are at the forefront of technicality and quality, while also being safe and clean working environments. Here, photos from our visit to Portugal.
