The Kammok Glider is the first consumer camp shelter to include a built-in rain retention system.

This patent-pending design includes catenary curves, the company says were originally inspired by the shape of the sugar glider flying squirrel. An adjustable suspension system on the shelter allows for rain gutters to form, which channels water towards collection bottles at the corners. These flexible bottles are made of BPA-free plastic to allow the user to store water while out on extended hikes.

The Kammok Glider is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter. However, like most truly great ideas, it was completely funded just a few days into its campaign. Nevertheless, you can still get your hands on one of the first production models by donating today.

Whatever this tiny house lacks in square footage, it makes up with its expansive views of the Big Sur coastline.

The space is an off-the-grid getaway developed by eco-architect Alex Wynham and has been constructed from sustainable harvested timber with redwood bark facades that open for expanded outdoor space. The grass covered roof helps the space blend into the local ecology and keep the lush hillside looking pristine and untouched.

Like many other unique minimalist homes in Big Sur, this pastoral retreat offers a beautifully escape to a simpler life.

Don’t let the playful name fool you, the CRKT Guppie is a serious multi-tool that packs quite a wallop.

Designed by Launce Barber and Tom Stokes to fit easily in your pocket, the Guppie is equipped with a handful of tools that are ready for just about any occasion. It features an adjustable wrench, high carbon stainless steel blade, removable bit carrier (with magnet attachments), but driver, multi-use pocket/money clip, and a carabiner that doubles as a bottle opener.

If you’re interested in getting your hands on one of these do-it-all pocket tool, they are available on Amazon for about $30.

High visibility this bike is not. Design Affairs Studio had to pioneer new materials and manufacturing techniques to create this “eye-catching” clear bicycle they aptly named Clarity.

Using Trivex, a material commonly used for make shatter proof eyewear, Clarity’s polymer frame is impact resistance, flexible, and lightweight. To boot, this material is capable of being injection molded, which allows for affordable mass production.

The project is still in the concept stage, however with material and production technologies where they are, it seems very likely that such a mold injected frame will become available sometime in the future.

The old Prahran Hotel in Melbourne recently underwent some serious renovation and has reemerged with refined sense of class.

Unlike the previous art deco influenced decor, the new Prahran features leather, concrete, steel, and glass that projects a masculine tone. However, it is offset slightly by the soft curvatures of the circular portals that offer private booths for guests. The multi-level space features a dance floor, beer garden, and extremely long bar.

The HooK Stand by Note Design Studio combines form and function in their new city bike racks concept.

The designers wanted to come up with a bike rack bold enough to stand out against an already busy urban landscape, but also appeared small and unobtrusive to passersby. The broad band of metal that forms HooK’s structure allows it to be seen easily from a distance. However, its narrow width helps it disappear when view in profile.  The circular cut holes allows cyclists to easily lock up their front or rear while as well as the frame.

This merging of minimalist style and practical function would be very apt counter-point to the maximalist style of David Bryne’s NYC bike racks.

Cat skiing and back-country deep powder sessions, brought to you in Lego form.

This video combines the cheeky fun of stop-animation Legos with the uber seriousness of glam ski reels, and the result, is wonderfully endearing. From the faux lens flares to the chillwave electronic soundtrack, it captures all the classic hallmarks of the modern ski highlight reel while subtly drawing attention to their formulaic nature and underlying pretension.

It’s a brilliant little short with a light, playful touch that fills your heart with youthful happiness in a way that only Legos can.

This outdoor fire pit pavilion takes visual cues from the angular design of the F117 Nighthawk stealth fighter.

The Stealth Pavilion was created for KAAP, an annual art exhibition at an old Dutch fortress. The theme of the exhibition was derived from Constant Nieuwenhuy’s futuristic utopian city called “New Babylon”. However, the Stealth Pavilion was less inspired by the rosy utopian concept of the 1960′s and more by the idea of anti-space and otherness  often referred to as “heterotopia”.

While the exterior of the pavilion utilizes allegedly “stealth” technology, the interior is made simply out of wood with a fireplace at the center. The installation seems to convey a need for a high-tech protective shell for a more real human experience to exist within.
