Debuting at the Wheels & Waves festival in Biarritz France, this custom BMW R65 scrambler has been outfitted with a surfboard carrying rack.
The bike is the work of Xabi Ithurralde, who spent over ten months on the project. He selected the 1979 BMW R65 for its powerful boxer-engine and relative lightweight. To make the bike even more manageable, he replaced many of the clunkier stock BMW parts with scaled down versions. Everything from the headlight, to the tank, to the seat have been slimmed down in order to give the bike better proportions when carrying the surfboard. The handle bars, however, have been widened to give extra leverage and a new brake system has been installed for added stopping power.
