BASE Jumping in Singapore 2012

In a place where almost everything seems to be against the law, it makes sense that the often-illegal act of BASE Jumping hasn’t caught on in Singapore. However, this past New Year the Marina Bay Sands hosted the largest BASE jumping attempt in the city’s history as a promotional event for the $8 billion dollar mega hotel. Seven professional jumpers made the leap from the 1 hectare roof terrace called the Sands SkyPark, which spans across the hotel’s three 55-story towers. One of the best views of the event was from the roof’s 150 meter infinity pool that looks out over the city’s impressive skyline. With all seven jumpers safely making it to the ground, in spectacular fashion, the event was deemed a complete success.  It’s good to know that even most draconian legal body in the world is able to make exceptions for well-funded corporate media stunts. All is well in the world.
