Montague Paratrooper Folding Bike

Folding bikes may be the newest trend in urban minimalism, but the concept of a light-weight, space-saving bicycle originally got its start in the military. As earlier on as 1886 the French army was experimenting with cycling infantry using folding bikes. Since then bicycles have played a role in every major military conflict, although usually in a fairly limited capacity. Today the US military uses specially designed folding bicycles from Montague for airborne operations. Aptly called The Paratrooper, the bicycle is a sturdy, durable full sized mountain bike that is designed to be dropped by parachute. Once on the ground, it unfolds and serves as an effective, efficient, and silent ground transportation for increased troop range and mobility. With their success in the military, Montague has expanded to offer civilian versions.
