Honda’s All-Electric Motor Compo

Recently we wrote about the Motocompo, Honda’s foldable scooter from the early 1980′s.  Despite being a complete disaster in terms of sales, the bike has developed a strong cult following since it was discontinued in 1983.  Word on the street is that Honda has plans to revive the Motocompo in 2012. However, this year at the Tokyo Motor Show we got a peak at the next closest thing: the new all-electric Motor Compo.  It’s not quite the same things as the Motocompo, but it’ll have to do for now.

One meter in bother length and height, the Motor Compo is designed to fit inside Honda’s new “Micro Commuter” concept vehicle. The scooter features front wheel drive and a removable battery specifically designed to be used as an emergency power source in case of disaster.

While this futuristic version is a tantalizing step in the right direction, we’re still looking forwards to the release of an updated gas-powered Motocompo.  This one looks a little too much like a iPod crossed with Segway.
